HCM CITY— Defending champions Saigon Heat beat Thang Long Warriors 90-70 on Saturday night (August 19) at the CIS Gymnasium, District 7, HCM City.
Although both teams have made it to the playoffs, each still aimed for victory to look for a better position in the rankings.
With the return of shooting guard Võ Kim Bản, Heat quickly took the lead in the first minutes of the first quarter.
Thanks to Bản's three-pointers, the Heat ended the first quarter with the score 25-15.
Enter the second quarter, Kentrell Barkley of the Heat once again produced an unstoppable performance when he blocked, assisted and scored.
Three minutes before the break, Kim Bản with another three-pointer helped Heat lead with by than 20 points ( 48-25).
The second half ended with the score 53-32.
Enter the third quarter, the Warriors' captain Justin Young and John Fields scored points to help the guest shorten the lead to 60-48.
However, Heat's players knew the best way to control the game. They quickly scored and re-established a 20 point lead at the end of the third quarter.
There were no surprises that happened in the last quarter. The home team sealed their victory with the final score 90-70.
