Cantho Catfish comeback to secure first home win

CẦN THƠ — Danang Dragons failed to get their first win of the year against the Cantho Catfish, even though at one stage they were 20 points in front.

The match was held on August 18 at Cần Thơ Gymnasium, Cần Thơ City.

With both teams sitting at the bottom of the league, the game had no effect on the outcome.

However, both teams still entered the match with the desire to win. For the Catfish, it would be their first win at home, while for the Dragons, it would be their first win since the start of the season.

The guest's shooters continued play well, ending the first quarter leading 32-17.

In the second quarter, although Jermaine Marrow had to leave the court due to an injury after a strong collision with Joshua Keyes of the Catfish, William Trần and Jairus Holder continued to lead the visitors to keep the point advantage.

With five minutes remaining in the second quarter, with a three-point phase, Jairus Holder made a three pointer to help the Dragons lead by 20 points (48-28).

They ended the second quarter with the score 57-39.

After the break, the Catfish started the comeback, Joshua Keyes and Brachon Griffin scored important points and helped the home team gradually shorten the lead.

Griffin made a three pointer from the left wing to equalise the score. Michael Soy ended the third quarter with a three points play from layup and free throw.

Both teams played neck to neck in the last quarter. With five minutes left, the host sped up their play.

The Catfish's shooters scored points and played good defence, they took the lead 88-78 with two minutes left, and ended the match with the score 97-88.

Joshua Keyes with double 24 points, 13 rebounds won a Player of the Game award.
