"My race at the world champion comes to a close. Thank you for watching and giving me best wishes," Oanh posted on her Facebook page.

"It is an end but it is also a new milestone in my career that will give me motivation to overcome challenges ahead."

Oanh, 28, will fly back home and join her teammates in an intensive training course in preparation for the important 19th Asian Games which will be held in September in China.

The 2023 Asian Indoor Athletics Championship winner is tipped to do well in the 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase.

In Hangzhou, athletics will be at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium from September 29 to October 5, competing for 48 gold medals.

The 1,500m is scheduled on September 30 and October 1, and the 3,000m steeplechase on October 2.
