HÀ NỘI — The best Vietnamese athletes are in Thailand to vie for gold medals at the seventh Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships.

The tournament is scheduled from September 1-5, but competitions will be from September 3 in the beach city of Pattaya.

The 28-strong contingent will take part in both disciplines for juniors and seniors.

Among them, Trần Ngọc Thúy Vi/Nguyễn Chế Thanh/Lê Hoàng Phong and Vương Hoài An/Nguyễn Việt Anh/Hoàng Gia Bảo will take part in the trios event. Vi and Phong will also compete in the mixed pairs.

Meanwhile, Thanh and four other teammates will perform in the group event.

Phan Thế Gia Hiển and Trần Hà Vi are Vietnamese representatives in the men's and women's individuals.

In the junior competitions, Phan Thị Uyên Thi and Phan Thế Gia Mẫn will compete in the women's and men's individuals.

Other athletes will take part in the mixed pairs, trios and groups.

Recently, Việt Nam won three gold medals at the 31st SEA Games in May.

One month later, Vi, Thanh, Phong, Anh and An won the world championship group title in Portugal.

"Winnings at the SEA Games and the world championship make me more comfortable and confident heading into other competitions," said Vi, who was in the Việt Nam team winning all the above events.

"My teammates and I have prepared really well for our performance and mentality for the coming Asian championship."

In the latest version in 2017, Việt Nam secured two gold, three silvers and one bronze to be the No 1 team in the medal tally. VNS
