HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health on Saturday confirmed Việt Nam's 52nd coronavirus death.
The latest death was a 35-year-old woman from northern Lạng Sơn Province, who had end-stage colon cancer. Previously she had undergone chemotherapy treatment five times at Hà Nội's K Hospital.
She tested positive for COVID-19 on May 17, then was taken to Đức Giang Hospital.
On May 22 she was transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and diagnosed with pneumonia caused by COVID-19. She suffered progressive respiratory failure, along with fungal infections.
She was put on a ventilator and given some other intensive treatment but did not respond well. She passed away on Saturday night.
Since the start of the fourth COVID-19 wave in Việt Nam, 17 patients have died so far. — VNS
