A Japanese tourist has died from falling into the water at the Tuần Châu International Passenger Port, according to Bãi Cháy General Hospital in northern province of Quảng Ninh.

HÀ NỘI — A Japanese tourist has died after falling into the water at Tuần Châu International Passenger Port in the northern province of Quảng Ninh.

The victim was identified as Mitsuyasu Masahiro, 64.

The accident occurred on Sunday after Masahiro and a group of tourists had finished visiting Hạ Long Bay. While they were walking up the steps from the port, he slipped and fell into the water, hitting his head in the process. A number of people at the scene jumped in to rescue Masahiro and took him to Bãi Cháy General Hospital for emergency treatment.

However, Masahiro was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim’s family has been informed, and an investigation is underway.  — VNS
