HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội People’s Committee on Sunday proposed subsidised ticket rates on its first metro project – the Cát Linh-Hà Đông elevated railway – when the metro opens for commercial operation next month.

A single ticket is priced at VNĐ15,000 (65 US cent) per person traveling the whole metro line and VNĐ8,000 for travel from one stop to the next. A daily ticket is VNĐ30,000 ($1.3), including an unlimited number of trips. A monthly ticket will cost VNĐ200,000 ($8.62).

The proposed prices will apply during the pilot period and would then be adjusted. However, the duration of the pilot period has not been confimed.

The Cát Linh-Hà Đông line runs 13.5km with 12 stations, including Cát Linh, La Thành, Thái Hà, Láng, Thượng Đình, Ring Road 3, Phùng Khoang, Văn Quán, Hà Đông, La Khê, Văn Khê and Yên Nghĩa.

The track is designed for speeds up to 80km/h and trains would run every 3-5 minutes.

The $886 million project was originally slated to begin operations in 2016 but multiple setbacks pushed the date back to the end of the first quarter of 2019. — VNS
