HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội’s Department of Education and Training will continue piloting the international training programme for Việt Nam’s national secondary level curriculum and the curriculum to receive International General Certificate of Secondary Education at seven state schools in the 2019-20 school year.
The programmes will be implemented at Chu Văn An Secondary School in Tây Hồ District, Thanh Xuân Secondary School in Thanh Xuân District, Cầu Giấy Secondary School and Nghĩa Tân Secondary School in Cầu Giấy District, Hoàn Kiếm District’s Ngô Sỹ Liên Secondary School and Grade 6 of Hà Nội – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
Two assessment tests on Mathematics and English will be offered to recruit sixth graders.
The English test includes a 45-minute writing and 30-minute listening part.
The 60-minute mathematics test is written in English based on standards set by Cambridge Assessment International Education. The score for each test will be transferred to the scale out of 10. And a candidate’s general score will be the sum of the two test results.
Admissions will be evaluated based on a candidate’s general score and choice of schools.
Each student can apply to two schools, ranked in order of priority.
Admission scores of all seven schools will be decided by the education department.
In case of lowering admission scores, schools are asked to report the number of students who have passed the tests, the number of students in need, new admission scores and time to apply.
Only students applying to specific schools as their first choices are eligible to be screened. — VNS
