HCM CITY — The HCM City People Committee has found temporary housing arrangements for 380 households who are living in unsafe conditions in the Trúc Giang and Vĩnh Hội apartment buildings in District 4.

The families will be moved to 14 apartments owned by District 4 Public Service One Member Ltd. Co. in District 4 and to 367 apartments in the Vĩnh Lộc B building in Bình Chánh District.

If the residents do not want to live in Bình Chánh District, temporary lodgings will be found in District 4.

The city has 474 apartment buildings that were built before 1975, including 15 grade D condos that were badly damaged and unsafe for living.

Last year, the city moved 188 households in three grade-D apartments and one grade-C apartment building. In addition, the city also completed the dismantling of two apartment buildings to build new ones.

This year, the city aims to relocate households living in eight apartment buildings in disrepair, dismantle six apartment buildings, and start construction on four new apartment buildings.

Yesterday (Feb 13), the city’s People’s Committee met with the District 4 People’s Committee to clear 1,223 households that live in canal areas in the district.

The district’s People’s Committee asked the city’s People’s Committee to build two resettlement housing projects for these households.

The district authority also asked the People’s Committee to change the form of investment from public-private partnership (PPP) to the city budget for the resettlement projects.— VNS
