ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city of Đà Nẵng has approved a sponsorship plan on upgrading a 1.5km road section connecting Nguyễn Văn Linh Street and the International Airport with an investment of VNĐ19.8 billion (nearly US$800,000) by the Đà Nẵng International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC (AHT).

The city said the project will help decorate quality and landscape for the downgraded road section for smooth entrance traffic from the city’s downtown to the airport.

It’s expected that the project would complete for full normal traffic in May.

Deputy general of AHT company, Đỗ Trọng Hậu, said the road section demonstrates the landscape traffic of the city linking the international airport to the downtown and the beach zone of Mỹ Khê – one of the most favourite destinations in Đà Nẵng City.

He said AHT company will continue funding for the other decoration projects in contributing to the city’s face-lifted inner traffic and urban space in the coming time.

AHT, who operates the International Terminal No 2 at the Đà Nẵng Airport, plans to fund for the second phase of the inner traffic upgrading project on linked Nguyễn Văn Linh-Võ Văn Kiệt and Mỹ Khê beach zone in creating urban architecture attraction to tourism.

Last year, AHT introduced the Auto Gate, an automatic immigration declaration system, at the Terminal No 2 in marking it the first ‘smart’ terminal in central Việt Nam including automatic service systems of self-service bag drop, self-check-in kiosks, auto boarding gate, video call kiosks and multi-language information search screens.

The terminal No 2 has won a five-star rating by the international airport agency Skytrax twice in 2024–25.

AHT, in partnership with FPT Soft Đà Nẵng company, has installed AI-powered cameras at aviation procedure handling zones, with more mobile apps providing smart support solutions, along with touch-screen systems at the terminal for passengers. — VNS
