HÀ NỘI — Eighteen Vietnamese citizens living and working in Iran have been evacuated to a third country amidst the ongoing escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran, Vietnamese Ambassador to Iran Nguyễn Lương Ngọc said on Tuesday afternoon (local time).

According to the diplomat, currently, 20 Vietnamese citizens remain in Iran, including embassy staff and personnel. All are safe, mentally stable and in regular contact with the embassy. 

The Vietnamese community in Iran consists of 38 people, including embassy staff, long-term residents and short-term visitors.

The embassy regularly advises them to remain vigilant, avoid crowded places, strictly follow local security and safety regulations and maintain close contact with the embassy.

Tensions between Israel and Iran have entered the fifth day and continue to escalate dangerously following Israel’s preemptive strikes on targets in Tehran and several Iranian provinces in the early hours of June 13.

Many countries are now working on evacuation plans for their citizens from both Iran and Israel.— VNS
