HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s telecom providers have implemented comprehensive measures to ensure the stability and reliability of their networks during the high demand of the 30 April – 1 May holidays.

The move is in line with Official Dispatch No. 792/BKHCN-CVT, issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology, regarding the need to ensure uninterrupted communications during the holidays.

To mark the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), HCM City is hosting a series of large-scale events, attracting thousands of attendees.

The influx places considerable pressure on local telecommunications infrastructure, making the city a strategic priority for service providers in terms of both technology and manpower.

The Việt Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has significantly increased mobile broadcasting capacity at 18 key locations across HCM City to manage surging data traffic from residents, tourists, law enforcement and media representatives.

The group has also established dedicated transmission lines to support Việt Nam Television’s live broadcasts of major commemorative events.

Additionally, VNPT is providing internet and Wi-Fi services to the HCM City Press Centre, facilitating the timely delivery of content from domestic and international journalists to their audiences.

Throughout the holiday period, VNPT’s communications network is being operated under a contingency framework, with rapid-response protocols in place to handle potential disruptions.

Temporary mobile base stations and mobile signal vans have been deployed in event zones. VNPT’s network is prepared to handle peak usage at 57 event sites and tourist destinations, which are expected to attract large crowds.

To proactively manage technical issues, VNPT has mobilised 3,000 engineers working both remotely and on-site around the clock.

Meanwhile, Viettel Group has rolled out 945 technical enhancements specifically for HCM City.

In critical areas, including parade routes, the Thủ Thiêm Tunnel and major thoroughfares, Viettel has deployed base transceiver stations (BTS) and mobile broadcasting vehicles.

Advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence and automated monitoring systems, allow for real-time traffic prediction, intelligent data rerouting, and load balancing.

Viettel has deployed a three-level response model, including on-site teams, network monitoring, and rapid response at the scene.

In areas with limited equipment movement, such as parade areas, fixed duty teams are fully equipped with supplies and personnel, ready to handle incidents on-site.

MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation will deploy network congestion prevention in 33 areas in HCM City.

Of which, mobile broadcasting is carried out at 38 locations (including two mobile vehicles and 36 mobile modules) in areas where parades, marches, fireworks displays and festivals take place.

At the same time, 77 5G stations are organised to provide high-speed experiences to customers, ensuring no incidents occur.

MobiFone has activated its nationwide network protection plan since mid-April.

The network operator has completed a plan to increase the number of on-duty operators and information rescue personnel and to scientifically and effectively schedule shifts.

Technical contacts from strategic partners are mobilised to coordinate and set up remote connection channels, providing quick support when needed.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are applied by businesses to monitor and optimise the network, enabling the prediction and resolution of problems early, thereby improving the network's resilience in the event of incidents.

During the holiday, the hotline at 18001090 is available to answer and provide rapid customer support. VNS
