HÀ NỘI – Aviation procedures using biometric technology on the VneID platform have been officially rolled out by the Ministry of Public Security at Nội Bài International Airport.

From April 28, passengers of Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, taking  domestic flights can use biometric identification on the VneID application, instead of presenting documents as before.

Using biometric identification on VneID will the authorities say, help shorten the time of aviation checks and reduce the pressure at security points at the airport.

Nội Bài International Airport has closely co-ordinated with the Ministry of Public Security and airlines to install and operate equipment at five security check points and 15 boarding gates at Terminal 1.

“The application of biometric technology helps to significantly shorten the time for procedures, reduce pressure at security areas, increase throughput, and bring a more modern, convenient and safer passenger experience contributing to the national digital transformation journey in the aviation sector,” said the leader of Nội Bài International Airport.

Locations of biometric check-in points at the security screening area include three biometric lanes in area C and two in hall E.

At the boarding gate area, biometric identification devices have been installed at 15 boarding gates, from gates 1 - 15.

To ensure the process continues to be smooth, passengers are being advised to update their VneID account at level 2 and make sure to use the latest version, as well as install and update the latest version of the mobile apps of Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet Air.

Passengers should also continue to bring personal documents such as IDs or passports as backups, in case of any technical problems with the biometric system.

However in order to provide optimal support to passengers during this time, Nội Bài Airport and airlines have arranged extra staff to be on duty at support points (check-in areas, security gates and at boarding gates) to promptly guide and support passengers when encountering problems while using VNeID biometrics.

Moving forward, authorities will continue to coordinate with related units to expand the scope of the application, complete the system and meet the increasing travel demands and expectations of passengers for a smart, modern airport. VNS
