HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội has approved a project to build a wastewater collection system around West Lake in the city’s Tây Hồ District, with an investment of over VNĐ99 billion (approximately US$4 million) from the district’s budget.
The project, which is scheduled to be completed by 2027, will be implemented by the People’s Committee of Tây Hồ District in cooperation with relevant departments and agencies.
It aims to construct a wastewater collection system and transfer pump stations to create a separate drainage system around the city's biggest freshwater lake, which would be connected to the city’s drainage system in the future.
The project includes the construction of 20 wastewater separation wells, 120 inspection chambers, nearly 6.9km of gravity sewers, about 0.9km of pressure sewers, and three transfer pump stations.
This infrastructure is expected to eliminate wastewater discharge into West Lake and improve the environmental landscape around the lake. — VNS
