HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has given the green light to a proposal that will allow public employees to enjoy an uninterrupted five-day break by swapping a workday around the upcoming holidays on April 30 and May 1.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) on April 4 suggested swapping the workday on April 29 with another day because April 29 falls between the two holidays and the weekend, disrupting the continuity of the holiday period.

MoHA has agreed with the proposal, urging MOLISA to submit it to the Prime Minister for enactment.

Many people have thrown their support behind the proposal.

Nguyễn Hoàng Long, Chairman of the Trade Union of Matsuo Industries Vietnam, underlined the importance of the uninterrupted five-day break.

“Taking two days off and then working one day, followed by another two days off may not necessarily lead to high work efficiency on the second day,” said Long. "I fully agree with the proposal."

Nguyễn Hữu Dũng, former Director of the Institute of Labour Science and Social Affairs, is all for the proposal.

“MOLISA should submit the proposal to the Government promptly so businesses and workers can plan their holidays accordingly," said Dũng. — VNS
