HÀ NỘI — A fire has caused serious damage to the workshop of a electrical equipment manufacturing company.

The blaze broke out on Sunday afternoon inside the premises in in Thái Bình Village, Mai Lâm Commune, Hà Nội.

Smoke and flames also affected neighbouring properties.

Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene but police asked Long Biên District’s Police Office and Hà Nội’s Police Department to send an additional four crews.

Eventually the blaze was brought under control around 4.30pm.

According to the People's Committee of the district, the burning substances were initial identified as packaging, containing stone powder and surface-coating films.

The fire did not cause any injuries but extensive damage to the property. The cause is being investigated.

Meanwhile, on Saturday afternoon, another fire happened at 3pm in two houses in the residential group No 17 in Phú Lương Ward, Hà Đông District, Hà Nội.

The district’s police fire-fighting prevention and control office brought the blaze under control after around 90 minutes.

The fire did not cause any loss of life, but did severely damage the two houses and belongings inside. — VNS
