ĐÀ NẴNG — Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Trần Cẩm Tú on Wednesday attended a meeting between voters and candidates running for seats in the 16th National Assembly (the 2026–31 tenure) in Constituency No. 1 of Đà Nẵng City.

The event, organised by the Standing Board of the municipal Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee at the headquarters of the Thanh Khê Ward People’s Committee, gathered voters from Thanh Khê, An Khê, Hải Châu and Hòa Cường wards.

Tú, who is also Secretary of the Party Committee of Central Party Agencies, is one of five candidates standing in the constituency. The others are Phan Duy Anh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Finance; Trần Mạnh Huy, Chairman of the HTV Blockchain Solutions JSC and lecturer at Đà Nẵng Architecture University; Ngô Thị Bích, deputy head of the Price and Public Asset Management Division under the municipal Department of Finance; and Đào Thục Như, specialist at the Đà Nẵng Institute for Socio-Economic Development.

Voters were provided with the candidates’ brief profile before hearing their proposed action programmes should they be elected.

The candidates pledged to uphold moral integrity, maintain close contact with local authorities and voters, and actively contribute to decisions on socio-economic development policies for both the nation and Đà Nẵng. They also vowed to participate responsibly in law-making, particularly on land policies to better harness resources for development, while stepping up the fight against corruption, wastefulness and negative practices.

Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Tú expressed his appreciation for the frank and responsible opinions raised by voters at the meeting. He affirmed that Party and State leaders, as well as central agencies and Đà Nẵng authorities, will consider and address the recommendations in a timely and effective manner.

Regarding legal reform, he noted that the Party and State have accelerated efforts to improve legal frameworks, especially since late 2024. At a single recent session, the National Assembly revised nearly 50 laws to remove bottlenecks and facilitate socio-economic development. Law-making and enforcement, he stressed, must serve the supreme interests of the nation and the people.

The Permanent member also acknowledged voters’ concerns about supreme supervision, social security, health care, education, urban development, environmental protection, anti-corruption efforts, and the fight against drug crimes and counterfeit goods, describing them as major and practical issues requiring sustained attention.

On climate change and disaster response, he said Đà Nẵng has frequently suffered from storms, floods and sea-level rise. The Party and State are promoting a shift from reactive disaster response to proactive prevention and climate adaptation, including improving relevant legislation and aligning socio-economic planning with disaster resilience strategies. Medium- and long-term resources will be prioritised for essential infrastructure projects and sci-tech application while ensuring transparency, efficiency and public oversight of anti-disaster facilities.

Addressing land policy, he noted that although the 2024 Land Law marked significant progress, difficulties remain in areas such as land valuation, site clearance, compensation and administrative procedures. The Party and State have issued resolutions and guiding documents to tackle these bottlenecks, with further reviews underway to ensure consistency with related laws and to better protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and businesses.

He urged Đà Nẵng authorities to promptly resolve long-standing stalled projects in line with Party and State regulations, emphasising that development must go hand in hand with preventing losses and corruption.

Tú and other candidates pledged that if elected, they will devote their time and efforts to fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to them by voters.

Earlier the same day, Tú and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Lê Ngọc Quang visited the Public Administrative Service Centre of Thanh Khê ward to review administrative reform and public service delivery. — VNA/VNS
