HÀ NỘI — Former England football star Michael Owen arrived at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in Hồ Chí Minh City on Monday to meet fans and present his new solo fashion brand.

After heading to Sheraton Hotel, Owen had a meeting with the press, guests and hundred of fans. The event was also attended by Miss Ocean Việt Nam Đặng Thu Thảo, Miss Asia World Việt Nam Chi Nguyễn and model Thùy Trang, among others.

At the event, Owen introduced his fashion brand name and designs from his latest collection, which Vietnamese fans will be the first to have access to.

The former Liverpool, Man Utd and Real Madrid striker said he was amazed by the welcome he’d received and how passionate the Vietnamese were about football. He added he was planning to open football training centres in several countries, and that Việt Nam would be one of his destinations.

“It is really amazing for me to come to Việt Nam for the first time. I’m glad to share with you two of my biggest passions – football and business. I hope I can show you my current role now as a businessman and a company of our future football generation. I love doing something new and wish to serve the global community as well as a real changer. That’s why I started with Michael Owen Football Training Centres, with the hope of building potential centres here,” he said.

Since retiring from football, Owen has become a successful racehorse jockey, breeder and owner. — VNS
