HÀ NỘI — Singer Duy Cường, winner of Bolero Idol singing contest 2018, has released a music video (MV) extolling motherly love and filial piety.

This the singing debut of Cường, who holds a PhD in philosophy. Entitled Tình Mẫu Tử (Mother’s Love), the song honours his mother, who has dedicated her life to her family and children, said Cường.

Cường reflects on his family’s difficult situation and memories of his childhood. His mother had to work hard to earn money for raising children and caring for Cường’s father when he got into a traffic accident.

He made the MV to celebrate the annual Buddhist festival of Vu Lan, an event that eulogises motherly love, held in the seventh month of the lunar calendar.  This year it will fall on August 20.

With simple lyrics full of truthful sentiment, the MV promised to touch audience’s hearts and praise the sacrifices of Vietnamese mothers in general.

“My mother was the first person to watch this MV, and she cried a lot when watching it,” said Cường.

“I believe that audience will sympathise with me when they watch this MV. I simply aimed to express gratitude to parents on behalf of many people.” — VNS
