HCM CITY — Việt Nam is among Asia’s top three destinations for returning travellers, according to Repeat Visitor Ranking from digital travel platform Agoda.
The company also unveiled that Đà Nẵng strengthened Việt Nam’s showing by climbing two places from last year to rank sixth among Asian cities with the highest return-visitor rates.
The ranking is based on Agoda booking data from the first half of 2026.
Some destinations have a way of calling travellers back for more. The opportunity to discover new attractions, revisit favourite places, or simply enjoy familiar surroundings encourages travellers to return time and again.
Agoda’s data shows that some travellers revisited their preferred destinations multiple times during the first half of the year.
Vũ Ngọc Lâm, country director, Vietnam at Agoda, said: “Việt Nam’s continued position among Asia’s top three destinations for repeat visitors reflects the variety of experiences travellers can enjoy across the country. From the vibrant energy of Hà Nội and HCM City to the beaches of Đà Nẵng and the mountain landscapes of Sapa, each destination offers travellers new reasons to return. Đà Nẵng’s rise into Asia’s top six is particularly encouraging and demonstrates the city’s enduring appeal to visitors.”
Looking specifically at the city ranking across Asia, Tokyo claimed the top spot, overtaking Bangkok, while Bali ranked third for the first time, followed by Seoul and Osaka. Đà Nẵng, Kuala Lumpur, Fukuoka, Taipei, and Johor Bahru completed the top 10.
Within Việt Nam, the five destinations with the highest return-visitor rates in the first half of 2026 are Đà Nẵng, HCM City, Nha Trang, Hà Nội, and Phú Quốc Island.

Việt Nam’s two major cities also strengthened their positions, with Hà Nội climbing two places and HCM City moving up one. Sapa recorded another notable gain, rising three places from last year. Its growing appeal is also reflected in Agoda’s activities data, which named Sun World Fansipan Legend the most-booked activity on Agoda in Việt Nam during the first six months of 2026.
Đà Nẵng rose by two places, making its way into the top six cities in Asia with the highest return-visitor rates. This rise highlights the city’s enduring appeal, from its stunning beaches and excellent value to its proximity to UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Hội An. The city is also home to Bà Nà Hills, a popular hilltop destination known for the iconic Golden Bridge, panoramic mountain views, and a wide range of leisure and entertainment experiences.
