HÀ NỘI On March 21-22, the Earth Hour Ideas Festival 2025 will be held at The Loop Shopping Centre in Hà Nội's Cầu Giấy District. With the theme “Waste – Trash as a Resource”, the festival aims to raise awareness about waste sorting at source, encourage the circular economy, and promote sustainable living.
Earth Hour Ideas is a non-profit campaign initiated by BOO Trading Joint Stock Company, held in support of Earth Hour under the patronage of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Over the years, this programme has evolved into an influential annual event, attracting wide community participation and inspiring practical environmental action.
Carrying the message “Switch off fast living – Switch on green living”, this year’s festival emphasises the importance of sorting waste at source, aligning with Việt Nam’s upcoming mandatory implementation of this policy from December 31, 2024. The event also urges businesses to adopt Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principles and meet Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.
At the festival, organisers will host seven interactive experience zones offering meaningful activities such as waste collection, clothing exchanges, exhibitions featuring recycled materials, and eco-friendly business booths. Participants will have opportunities to interact with artists, KOLs, and content creators, including actress Bảo Thanh, journalist and commentator Trương Anh Ngọc, and singer Linh Ka.
A key highlight will be “Earth Hour Night” on the evening of March 22, featuring a symbolic lights-off event from 8:25 p.m. to 8:35 p.m. to demonstrate solidarity with Earth Hour. Additionally, outstanding young people recognised through the “Green Living for the Common People” initiative will be honoured, showcasing their innovative and practical solutions to environmental challenges.
With its creative and engaging activities, Earth Hour Ideas Festival 2025 promises to continue inspiring positive change and supporting Việt Nam’s transition toward a greener future.
The festival will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 22, 2025, at The Loop Shopping Centre, 241 Xuân Thủy Street, Cầu Giấy District, Hà Nội. Organisers expect approximately 5,000 attendees and aim to collect, recycle, and reuse around 10,000 items, including clothing, plastic packaging, and used batteries. VNS
