HCM CITY — Nestlé Việt Nam has been named as the most sustainable company in Việt Nam in 2022 in the manufacturing sector by the Việt Nam Business Council for Sustainable Development of the Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This is the second consecutive year that Nestlé is winning the award and the fourth year in a row that it has been ranked in the group of the three most sustainable businesses.
From hundreds of enterprises in different sectors that registered to participate in the programme, the organising committee selected the Top 100 sustainable enterprises.
To achieve this recognition, Nestlé Vietnam met the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) for 2022 with 130 criteria, of which 68 per cent are related to legal compliance requirements, a mandatory requirement for all businesses, and 32 per cent are related to sustainable business initiatives.
In addition, the company was also voted among the top five enterprises that take the lead in implementing the circular economy model, and in responding to climate change.
Nestlé is one of the world’s leading corporations with a strong commitment to combating climate change. The company has committed to achieving net-zero by 2050.
“To accelerate the accomplishment of that goal, we have been making relentless efforts to implement solutions and initiatives at every stage throughout our supply chain, as well as foster cooperation programmes with relevant partners in Việt Nam,” said Binu Jacob, managing director of Nestlé Vietnam.
On November 29, the European Chamber of Commerce in Việt Nam voted Nestlé Vietnam as Green Business of the Year 2022.
Established in 1995, Nestlé has invested US$730 million in Việt Nam, and currently employs 2,200 labourers and operates four factories. — VNS
