Shopee 12.12 Birthday Sale fetes local businesses, helps shoppers save VND130 billion

Shoppers saved VND130 billion, the number of products sold on Shopee Live increased 18-fold (*) on December 12, visits to the "Shopee Celebrates Local" campaign page were up 10 times in compared to last year. These were the highlights of the 12.12 Birthday Sale event.

During the 12.12 campaign, buyers saved up to VND130 billion thanks to discounts of up to 90% from sellers and brands in addition to a series of promotions from Shopee.

At the same time users also showed support to the ‘Shopee Celebrates Local’ programme with a 10-fold increase in traffic to the campaign landing page from last year.

Connecting users and local businesses

At this year's 12.12 Birthday Sale event, Shopee re-launched the programme ‘Shopee Celebrates Local’ and brought a number of Vietnamese products at discounted prices to help shoppers explore the country’s diverse cultural aspects and many quality brands.

The programme helped promote hundreds of Vietnamese brands and sellers to a wide range of users across the country. The most popular Vietnamese sellers and brands included Biti’s, Cocoon and Dalat Farm.

Meet the shopping demand of Vietnamese users during festive season 

During the 12.12 event, millions of shoppers excitedly hunted for gifts for themselves and their loved ones. The favourite items purchased by Vietnamese users included beauty and home & living products and women’s clothes.

On December 12 the number of new Shopee users in the country tripled (*).

The 12.12 event also saw the number of new users on ShopeePay (*) double, underlining the popularity and convenience of the cashless payment method.

On the other hand, users were excited with the shoppertainment experience on Shopee Live, which got 135 million livestream views through the event.

On December 12 Shopee recorded an impressive 18-time increase in the number of products bought via Shopee Live.

Drive brands and Seller growth

Millions of brands and sellers accompanied Shopee in bringing a myriad of offers and fun to users through the 12.12 Birthday Sale.

Shopee Live saw a four-fold rise in the numbers of brands and sellers on livestream on December 12.

Shopee Mall continued to be a popular shopping destination with nearly a million visits every hour on December 12.

Also, in response to the Vietnam Grand Sale 2022 programme launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, Shopee delivered many exclusive offers to users in the country.

From 15 November to 22 December, shoppers have access to products at up to 90% discount across categories, and can enjoy free delivery vouchers when buying on the Shopee app.
