Phương wins Việt Nam Master tennis event

Young talent Nguyễn Văn Phương, 17, won the men’s singles title of the Việt Nam Master tennis tournament, Vietravel Cup, which concluded in the central province of Nghệ An on Sunday.

HÀ NỘI — Young talent Nguyễn Văn Phương won the men’s singles title of the Việt Nam Master tennis tournament, Vietravel Cup, which concluded in the central province of Nghệ An on Sunday.

Phương, 17, of Becamex Bình Dương beat his teammate, veteran Trịnh Linh Giang 1-6, 7-6, 5-2 (Giang retired because of injury) in the final to take the title.

Earlier, Phương and Giang also won the men’s doubles title after beating Lê Quốc Khánh and Tất Thái Nguyên of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City 6-4 and 6-3 in the final.

On the women’s side, Tiffany Linh Nguyễn of Bình Dương defended her title after beating Đào Minh Trang of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City in the final, while Trần Thụy Thanh Trúc and Phan Như Quỳnh of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City easily defeated the duo Nguyễn Thị Hồng and Nguyễn Thị Mai Hương of Hải Dương to win the women’s doubles. — VNS
