HÀ NỘI — The sixth Table Tennis Club Hà Nội Open will kick off on December 27 with the participation of more than 300 athletes.

There are 11 categories for men and women in different age groups and one for professional male competitors.

They will vie for a total prize of VNĐ130 million (US$5,600).

"We want to hold a tournament for amateur players but professionals can also participate. It will attract people’s attention and make the competition more agressive," said Nguyễn Hoàng Long co-head of the organising board.

The professional class would see last year’s silver medallist Phan Huy Hoàng with teammates Lê Đình Đức and Nguyễn Trung Kiên of Hà Nội T&T Club and Nguyễn Văn Huấn of Hỏa Châu Club as well as young  athletes competing, according to Long.

The finals will be on December 30. — VNS
