Trâm adjudged best swimmer in national short-course event

HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Diệp Phương Trâm was declared the best athlete in the National Short-course Swimming Championships, which closed yesterday in Huế.

The HCM City-based swimmer grabbed 15 gold medals, of which eight were secured in individual events.

On the last day yesterday, Trâm won three titles in the women’s 200m individual backstroke, 200m individual freestyle and in the team relay categories.

She also pocketed three silver and one bronze and set up four national records.

Trần Duy Khôi, also from HCM City, was another highlight of the tournament. He clinched 12 golds, three silvers and two bronzes, and six records. Among the records, he broke two eight-year records in the men’s 50m backstroke and 200m breaststroke.

HCM City took the top place in the team’s ranking. Quảng Bình were second, followed by Đà Nẵng. — VNS
