Five VN records set in national swimming event

The National Swimming Championships saw five national individual records set up in Thừa Thiên-Huế on Friday.

HÀ NỘI — The National Swimming Championships saw five Vietnamese individual records set in Thừa Thiên-Huế on Friday.

Ngô Thị Ngọc Quỳnh of Quảng Bình set a national record in the women’s 50m breast with a time of 32.14secs, beating the old record of 32.33.

Hoàng Quý Phước of Đà Nẵng beat the old record of 1:46.00 in the men’s 200m freestyle to set a new record of 1:45.15.

Phước continued to set a record in the men’s 50m freestyle, with a time of 22.74secs, surpassing the old record of 22.90secs.

In the men’s 400m individual medley, Nguyễn Hữu Kim Sơn of An Giang made a record of 4:20.35, beating the old record of 4:20.76. Trần Duy Khôi of HCM City also made a new record of this category with a time of 4:15.26.

After two days of competition, HCM City temporarily took the lead with eight golds, five silvers and three bronzes. Đà Nẵng came in second with three golds and two bronzes. Quảng Bình are third with two golds, one silver and three bronzes.

The five-day tournament has attracted the participation of 105 swimmers from 19 teams across the country, competing for 45 sets of medals. — VNS
