HÀ NỘI — Badminton star Nguyễn Thùy Linh faces a tough testa t the Malaysia Masters 2026 which begins on May 20 in Kuala Lumpur.

Linh is seeded No 7 in the women's singles category and will play Wong Ling Ching of the hosts in the first round match at the Stadium Axiata Arena.

Linh beat Ching 2-1 in the Canada Open last year after three tense sets. 

If she wins her opening match, she will face the winner of the game between Pitchamon Opatniputh of Thailand and Tanvi Sharma of India. Both defeated Linh in their latest meets.

The toughest rival will be No 1 seed Chen Yufei of China in the quarter-finals. Linh has never won a single set when facing Chen.

Last year, Linh ended in the last-eight round, losing to Chinese Wang Zhiyi who went on to take the title.

Nearly 300 will players compete in five categories of men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Finals are scheduled to take place on May 25. — VNS
