HÀ NỘI — All four Vietnamese players have advanced to the knock-out stage of the 2024 Porto World Cup 3-Cushion after recording wins in the qualifying round held in Portugal on Thursday.

Trần Quyết Chiến topped Group B, securing victories over Javier Vera of Mexico (40-21), Frederick Caudron of Belgium (40-39), and Rui Manuel Costa of host Portugal (40-21).

Trần Thanh Lực booked his spot in the next round after defeating Dimitrios Seleventas of Greece 40-34 in his final Group E match.

Nguyễn Trần Thanh Tự in Group F qualified for the knock-out stage following a 40-40 draw with Tolgahan Kiraz of Turkey.

Additionally, Chiêm Hồng Thái in Group H earned his place in the next round by trouncing Peter De Backer of Germany 40-23 in the final match.

In this qualifying round, a total of 32 players were divided into eight groups of four, competing in a round-robin format. The top two players from each group have advanced to the knock-out stage.

The final of the 2024 Porto World Cup 3-Cushion will be on July 13. - VNS
