HỘI AN — Trần Văn Luận and Trần Lâm won the men’s double 6.5 division, while Nguyễn Hoàng and Trung Hoàng took the 7.5 title at the Community International Pickleball Tournament, VTV8-La Queenara Cup VTV8-La Queenara Cup, marking the introduction of a new sport for local community and expats in Điện Bàn Town.
Each of the winners of the two divisions was awarded a cash-prize of VNĐ10 million and two Proxr pickleball rackets worth VNĐ10 million from the tournament’s organising committee and sponsors.
Vũ Hoàng and Linh Giang grabbed the open title at the tournament, taking home 22 million in cash and professional rackets. The pair were also awarded a 100 million voucher for a three-day vacation at the Villa the Pearl in the La Queenara Urban Zone.
A collection at the tournament, from 130 competitors and businesses, raised money for a variety of charities including war victims and people impacted by natural disasters.
Pickleball, which was introduced in Việt Nam in 2018, will come back in 2025, the tournament’s organisers said.
The game was proving popular with both locals and expats in Hội An, Đà Nẵng and the neighbouring provinces – where tennis and golf are already well served with facilities and training centres.
