HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese national women's hockey team will return home on Friday after an impressive debut at the AHF Women's Indoor Asia Cup in Thailand.
While the team lost to formidable opponents Oman and Singapore in their final group stage matches, their participation in this prestigious tournament is a remarkable achievement. As a newly established national team, they have taken an important first step onto the international stage, gaining invaluable experience playing against some of the top teams in Asia.
"The Asia Cup represents a significant opportunity for the Vietnamese women's team," James Chew, CEO of the Việt Nam Hockey Federation told Việt Nam News. "This is a chance for them to benchmark their skills against the best, connect with the international hockey community and give our young coaches exposure to high-level tactical play. It's all about learning and laying the foundation for future success."

Though the results may not have gone their way this time, the team's determination and bravery in making their international debut deserves to be commended. Moving forward the focus will be on continued training, implementing new programmes to improve performance and get the team ready for the SEA Games 2025.
"We hope to keep this team together and work on developing their skills and overall hockey abilities," Chew said. "One day soon, we will be competing in the Asia Cup for the results, not just the experience. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey for Vietnamese women's hockey." — VNS
