HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam reported 14 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday evening, including one man from Hải Dương Province who had visited Hà Nội.

He is a 63-year-old who began feeling unwell on July 30 and a week later went to the 108 Military Central Hospital in Hà Nội for a check-up before he was transferred to the Thanh Nhàn Hospital for treatment for pneumonia.

On August 11, he tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently being treated at the capital’s National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

Health officials are also trying to track and trace people who visited the Lộc Vừng bar in Tứ Hiệp Commune, Thanh Trì District, which is run by the man’s daughter.

Meanwhile, the other 13 people to test positive are all from Đà Nẵng City.

They are aged between 26 and 83 years old and had been either treated at Đà Nẵng Hospital, or came into close contact with people or family members who have tested positive.

One is currently working as an intern at the hospital.

Since the first case was recorded in Việt Nam back in January, 880 have tested positive with 400 making a full recovery.

So far, there have been 17 fatalities related to coronavirus. All of the people who lost their lives have had serious underlying health conditions.  VNS
