HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội’s Youth Union on Monday launched a campaign named ‘10,000 jobs for the community’ to support young people who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19.

The union will act as a bridge to connect the youngsters with partners and recruiters to offer them jobs after the pandemic.

According to the union, many young people who worked for small and medium-sized businesses had lost their jobs during the pandemic due to the order to close non-essential services.

The non-profit campaign aims to provide incomes for thousands of unemployed young people.

It is being jointly organised by the city’s Student Union and Youth Association with support from Global Shapers in Hà Nội and HCM City, Canavi, Accesstrade and G.A.P Institute.

As part of COVID-19 campaign, from April 13 to 30, the city’s Youth Union will send 8,000 food packages per day to students, workers and those living in disadvantaged circumstances.

Each package includes rice, meat, vegetables, drinks, eggs and essential items.

They will be delivered to the doorsteps of people in need once every three days or to the headquarters of youth unions, student dormitories and community houses.

The first meals were sent on Monday morning to patients undergoing kidney dialysis at Bạch Mai Hospital, students at Mễ Trì Dormitory at the Hà Nội National University, workers at Quang Minh Industrial Park and medical staff at Hà Nội’s Nephrology Hospital. — VNS
