Việt Nam confirms 118 COVID-19 cases

Two more Vietnamese people have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Việt Nam to 118, the Ministry of Health confirmed on Monday.

HÀ NỘI — Two more Vietnamese people have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Việt Nam to 118, the Ministry of Health confirmed on Monday.

The 117th patient, 30, resides in southern Long An Province and is an IT worker. He visited Cambodia from March 9-19 and stayed at Infinity Hotel in Phnom Penh.

He started to have a fever and cough and experience breathing difficulties on March 16. He was taken to southern Tây Ninh Province’s General Hospital for treatment and quarantine after he returned to Việt Nam via the Mộc Bài International Border Gate in Tây Ninh Province on March 19. His sample then tested positive for COVID-19 by the HCM City-based Pasteur Institute.   

The 118th case, 23, lives in the Mekong Delta's An Giang Province’s Châu Phú District. She has worked for the Galaxy Casino in Cambodia for the last two weeks and returned to Việt Nam via Mộc Bài International Border Gate in Tây Ninh Province on March 19.

Medical workers at the border gate found her to have fever, cough and breathing difficulty and took her to the provincial hospital for treatment and quarantine. Her sample tested positive for COVID-19 by HCM City's Pasteur Institute. — VNS
