HCM CITY — A total of 64 people, of whom 62 are Chinese and two are Vietnamese, are being isolated and supervised after arriving in Việt Nam due to fears of the novel coronavirus, said the HCM City Department of Tourism.

They were on flight OZ731 of Asian Airlines from Seoul in South Korea to Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in HCM City last Tuesday.

The 62 Chinese nationals work in Việt Nam and were returning to their jobs. Three additional Chinese passengers were refused entry as they arrived using tourist visas.

The airport’s customs brought the 64 people to an isolated area and gave them health examinations. No passengers showed signs of infection. The HCM City International Medical Quarantine Centre recommended the passengers self-isolate for 14 days under the local medical sector’s supervision.

A list of the passengers was sent to their living area so authorities can provide regular health examinations.

Võ Ngọc Thúy, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Tourism, said the department had improved education at tourism sites to raise people’s awareness of preventing the virus infection. — VNS
