HCM CITY — HCM City plans to set up a database on civil status to store and manage basic information related to population management of all citizens by 2020, with total cost estimated at VNĐ260 billion (US$11.15 million).
This will be part of the city’s common-use shared database system for smart-city development, Trần Vĩnh Tuyến , deputy chairman of the municipal People’s Committee and head of the smart city management board, said at a meeting on Wednesday.
The scale and scope of civil status digitisation includes all data related to registration of a birth, death, marriage, marital status, and recognition of parents or children.
Data records before 2015 will be scanned and entered on the database, while data records after 2015 only need to be scanned.
“Leaders of all districts’ people's committees and relevant agencies in localities must be responsible to the city's People's Committee if not completed on schedule,” Tuyến said.
The implementation process, which must be public and transparent, is expected to be completed before the second quarter of 2020. — VNS
