HCM CITY — HCM City plans to complete flood-prevention work by 2020 on 15 streets, 28 alleys, and five streets flooded by tides, under a new plan approved by the city’s People’s Committee.
During the period, the city will complete the second stage of the Bình Hưng water treatment project with a capacity of 469,000cu.m per day, and Nhiêu Lộc-Thị Nghè Wastewater Treatment Plant with total capacity of 480,000cu.m per day.
The city also proposed starting construction of four more wastewater treatment plants, including Tây Sài Gòn, Bình Tân, Tân Hoá-Lò Gốm and Bắc Sài Gòn, with total capacity of 800,000cu.m per day.
The city has also set up an Executive Board of Flood Control with 11 members include deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee, Trần Vĩnh Tuyến, who will head the board.
Flooding has now been prevented on streets that once easily flooded, including Lê Hồng Phong, Kỳ Đồng, Hai Bà Trưng, Nơ Trang Long, Lý Thường Kiệt, Kinh Dương Vương and more, according to the city’s Steering Centre for Urban Flood Control. — VNS
