HÀ NỘI — The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) said that a cold spell is forecast to hit northern Việt Nam starting on Wednesday.

The temperature is expected to drop as low as 18-20 degrees Celsius in Hà Nội, while falling to 15-17 degrees Celsius in mountainous provinces of Sơn La, Hà Giang and Lai Châu.

Due to the cold spell, the northern region will experience showers and scattered thunderstorms from Tuesday night.

Provinces from Thanh Hóa to Thừa Thiên-Huế will see medium to heavy rainfall from November 7-10. Strong winds and hailstorms might also occur.

Provinces in the south central region are also forecast to see moderate to heavy rain as well as thunderstorms from November 7-11. — VNS
