HÀ NỘI — General Secretary and President Tô Lâm has signed a decision to present gifts to those who contributed to the revolution on the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27), at the Prime Minister’s request.
The programme offers two tiers of gifts to express the Party and State’s gratitude to contributors and martyrs’ families.
Under the decision, VNĐ600,000 (US$22.7) will be given to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers receiving monthly preferential allowances and to those awarded the title before July 28, 2026, who have not yet completed allowance procedures.
War invalids, beneficiaries of war-invalid policies, class B war invalids and sick veterans with 81 per cent or greater bodily impairment who receive monthly preferential allowances will also receive this amount.
The same applies to people who took part in the resistance and were exposed to toxic chemicals with 81 per cent or greater impairment, and to relatives of martyrs receiving monthly funeral, rearing or survivor allowances, including families of two or more martyrs.
The VNĐ300,000 gift will go to war invalids, beneficiaries of war-invalid policies, class B war invalids and sick veterans with 80 per cent or lower impairment who are on monthly preferential allowances, as well as war invalids receiving loss-of-earning benefits.
It also covers those exposed to toxic chemicals with 80 per cent or lower impairment who receive monthly allowances, representatives of martyrs’ relatives, and those who tend martyrs’ graves when no relatives survive.
The decision takes effect from the date of signing and assigns the Prime Minister, the President’s Office, the Ministers of Home Affairs and Finance, and relevant agencies to organise implementation.
Authorities said the move reaffirms the tradition of 'when drinking water, remember its source' and the Party and State’s care for service families.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said more than 1.56 million people nationwide will receive the gifts, funded with VNĐ475.8 billion allocated in the 2026 State budget. — VNS
