HCM CITY — Seven tertiary hospitals in HCM City will transfer technology and provide comprehensive support to Bà Rịa General Hospital, according to the city’s Department of Health.

Nhân Dân Hospital 115 supports the development of emergency and intensive care at Bà Rịa General Hospital by setting up a stroke unit, training on red alert procedures, multi-trauma emergency care, and enhancing the capacity to handle critical cases.

Bình Dân Hospital supports the development of surgery, particularly general surgery, urology, and advanced surgical techniques.

Từ Dũ Hospital supports the field of obstetrics and gynecology to enhance obstetric emergency care, maternal and newborn care, and transferring advanced techniques in diagnosis and treatment.

The Tropical Diseases Hospital supports the development of capacity in infectious diseases, infection control, and infectious resuscitation.

Children’s Hospital 1 provides comprehensive support for pediatric medical examination and treatment, pediatric emergency care, pediatric resuscitation, and training of pediatric specialists.

It is also tasked with supporting Bà Rịa General Hospital in hospital management, including developing operational procedures, quality management, infection control, patient safety, and training management capacity for departmental leaders and managers.

The Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital and Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital also participate in supporting the development of specialised departments, contributing to enabling local residents to access high-tech services and reduce hospital transfer.

Assoc Prof Dr Tăng Chí Thượng, director of the Department of Health, said that the support of tertiary hospitals helps shorten the time to access emergency care and treatment for people in the southeastern part of the city.

Specialised hospitals play a vital role in expertise, supporting and enhancing the capacity of gateway hospitals, which creates an effective and sustainable hosptial network, Thượng said.

Bà Rịa General Hospital will develop into a strategic gateway hospital in the southeastern part of the city, he said. —VNS
