HÀ NỘI – A low-pressure trough will bring widespread rainfall to the northern region this evening (August 5) through tomorrow night (August 6), according to the National Centre for Hydrometeorogical Forecasting.
The mountainous northern and midland regions are expected to receive heavy downpours, with rainfall ranging from 40–90mm, with some places exceeding 250mm.
In the lowland areas, rainfall is forecast to range from 30–70mm, with some locations receiving more than 150mm.
The northern delta and southern Phú Thọ Province continue to experience hot weather today, though the intensity of the heat has slightly decreased compared to yesterday.
The highest temperatures range from 35–36°C, with some places exceeding 36°C.
Thunderstorms swept through some mountainous northern and midland areas last night, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain. Today, the weather will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and night.
Rain and thunderstorms are forecast to continue past August 6 in the north. Specifically, from early to late morning on August 7, mountainous and midland regions will continue to see moderate to heavy rain, with some areas receiving 15–35mm, up to more than 80mm in some spots.
Other northern areas will likely receive around 10–30mm of moderate to heavy rain, with local areas potentially seeing up to over 50mm.
Hà Nội will continue to experience hot weather today with highs up to 36°C. In the evening and night, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the potential for tornadoes, lightning and strong winds.
The region from Thanh Hóa province to Huế City continued to suffer from hot weather during the day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and night. In Thanh Hóa to Nghệ An provinces, there will be scattered thunderstorms and locally heavy rain, southwesterly winds at level 2-3, and thunderstorms that may bring tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts.
