ĐÀ NẴNG — Permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Trần Cẩm Tú has affirmed that the fight against anti-corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena will continue to be discussed at the second plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee’s meeting.
He was speaking at a meeting with voters of seven wards in central Đà Nẵng City on Thursday.
He said that during the previous term, the Politburo directed strong efforts in Party building and rectification as well as the fight against corruption. The 14th National Party Congress also emphasised the need to continue resolute and persistent efforts to prevent and push back corruption, wastefulness and negative practices. This is a consistent policy of the Party and the State.
The second plenum of the Party Central Committee will discuss a new resolution on this issue to further build a clean and strong Party and political system to meet the requirements of the new period, he said.
After listening to voters’ concerns, Tú expressed sincere thanks to voters for their thoughtful comments and for sharing expectations on many important issues related to national and Đà Nẵng’s development.
These include improving institutions and legal frameworks for specific policies, supervising the implementation of the Constitution and laws, and monitoring major programmes and projects.
Voters also raised issues related to socio-economic development mechanisms, environmental protection, healthcare, education, social welfare policies for the poor and near-poor, the elderly, families of people with meritorious services to the revolution, employment and human resource training as well as the settlement of long-delayed projects facing difficulties.
The Party Secretariat leader noted that these are major and important issues that the Party and State have been paying close attention to and directing in recent years. They represent key breakthroughs both in the previous and current terms, particularly institutional reform.
“Institutional reform must lead the way. The first bottleneck we have to focus on removing in recent times is institutional bottlenecks,” he said.
Regarding voters’ concerns about delayed projects in Đà Nẵng City, he said preliminary statistics show that nationwide nearly 3,000 projects are facing prolonged difficulties and obstacles, causing significant waste of resources from the State, businesses and the public.
The Politburo has issued conclusions on addressing these stalled projects. The National Assembly has also adopted a resolution on the matter.
Accordingly, local authorities have been urged to decisively tackle obstacles facing long-delayed projects so they can become operational and avoid wasting significant resources, he said.
On Wednesday afternoon, during a meeting with voters of Hoà Khánh, Liên Chiểu và Hải Vân wards, the leader highlighted key issues on developing private economy, housing development and relocation and transformation of old industrial zones.
He noted that March 15 will be an important day for the entire nation when citizens exercise their sacred right and responsibility to the country. Each ballot represents not only a choice but also the trust, expectations and responsibility entrusted to their representatives. — VNS
