HCM CITY — The Việt Nam Coast Guard Region No. 3 Command on January 5 held a workshop to gather feedback on the proposed format for piloting the regional finals of the “I Love My Homeland’s Seas and Islands” contest.

Speaking at the workshop, Colonel Lê Văn Tú, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region No. 3 Command, said that in recent years, the contest has become an annual activity with practical significance in communications and legal education.

“It has helped nurture patriotism and raise awareness of Viet Nam’s seas and islands among lower secondary school students in coastal localities,” he said.

Under the direction of the Project 3934 Steering Committee of the Việt Nam Coast Guard to develop a standard format for regional-level finals, the Coast Guard Region No. 3 Command has been selected to pilot the model, tentatively scheduled for March.

The workshop aimed to study and refine the competition format to ensure it is scientific, engaging, and suitable for real-world conditions, while also testing its feasibility before broader implementation across the force.

Participants focused discussions on key issues, including the scale and structure of competing teams, the design and naming of competition rounds, rules and scoring methods, programme duration, communications and commendation work, as well as stage design, technical equipment and side activities to enhance outreach and attract students and audiences.

Delegates also analysed potential challenges during implementation, particularly technical issues, competition management and coordination, and proposed solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of the contest.

Tú also praised the sense of responsibility and practical contributions of participants, stressing that developing a unified format for regional finals is necessary to ensure consistency across the force.

He asked the Political Department, acting as the standing body of the regional steering committee, to carefully review and incorporate all feedback from the workshop.

The department was also tasked with further improving the competition format and submitting the completed proposal to the Project 3934 Steering Committee of the Việt Nam Coast Guard for consideration and approval.

Once approved, the format will be piloted in a selected locality or region to assess feasibility, draw lessons, and make final adjustments before being applied uniformly nationwide. — VNS
