HÀ NỘI — The Politburo on August 22 announced a reprimand against the Ministry of Health’s Party Committee for the 2025-2026 term (by February 2025), and the expulsion of several officials from Thanh Hóa Province, Hồ Chí Minh City and former Kiên Giang Province from the Party, citing serious violations of the Party's regulations and the State's laws.
After considering a proposal from the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat concluded that the ministry’s Party Committee, active by February 2025, had shown the lack of responsibility in leadership and oversight, allowing the ministry and its certain Party organisations and members to commit violations in drafting and finalising laws, performing state management functions over food safety. Many officials and Party members at the Vietnam Food Administration were found to have shown degradation in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle; violated the Party's regulations and the State's laws in carrying out their duties; and engaged in serious corruption and misconduct over a long period of time.
Nguyễn Đức Quyền, during his tenure as member of the Thanh Hóa Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, violated the Party's regulations and the State's laws by signing decisions on land allocation and lease, which involved illegal land use levy collection.
Lê Đức Giang, while serving as member of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, violated the Party's regulations and the State's laws in performing assigned duties and responsibilities, and abused his positions and power while on duty.
Lê Hồng Sơn, during his time as Vice Secretary of the Hồ Chí Minh City Party Committee and Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training, unlawfully intervened in investment decisions concerning the procurement of foreign-language teaching and learning equipment by district- and ward-level People’s Committees.
Ngô Công Tuộc, while acting as member of the Kiên Giang Provincial Party Committee, Vice Secretary of the U Minh Thượng District Party Committee and Chairman of the district People's Committee, signed documents related to the district administrative centre construction project in violation of law.
The above officials showed degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle; violated the Party's regulations and the State's laws on performing their duties. Their actions, including breaches of regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and failures to uphold the responsibility for setting an example, caused severe consequences, sparked public concerns, and seriously harmed the reputation of Party organisations, agencies, and units they served.
Therefore, the Politburo decided to expel them from the Party. — VNS
