Singapore wants to elevate ties with Việt Nam in promising areas: President

As both nations are preparing for the upgrade of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Singaporean President underscored the pivotal role the Ambassador is expected to play, saying that his contributions would be vital to developing the bilateral ties.

SINGAPORE — Newly-appointed Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Trần Phước Anh on Tuesday presented his credentials to Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

President Tharman expressed his delight at the comprehensive development of the bilateral relationship in the recent past, stressing that Singapore wants to boost cooperation with Việt Nam in such promising areas as clean energy, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor, carbon credit, finance, education and training.

As both nations are preparing for the upgrade of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, he underscored the pivotal role the Ambassador is expected to play, saying that his contributions would be vital to developing the bilateral ties.

Anh, in turn, expressed his desire to push the bilateral Strategic Partnership to a new height in the fields of politics, national defence-security, economy, culture, Party relations, and people-to-people exchanges.

He was committed to making every effort during his tenure to further develop their already strong and substantive relationship for the benefit of both nations' people, contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.

On the same day, the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs rolled out a warm welcome to Ambassador Trần Phước Anh, releasing a detailed biography on its website that highlighted his distinguished service as a Counsellor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar from 2010-14. — VNA/VNS
