The Guide Awards 2018 highlights role of tech in tourism

HÀ NỘI — Representatives of more than 100 hotels, resorts and tourist enterprises, together with high-ranking officials from Việt Nam’s tourist department have participated The Guide Awards 2018 in Hà Nội.

With the theme ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’, attendees learned about the important role of technology in tourism development, including how virtual reality has been used to promote tourist destinations in Hà Nội.

Speaking at the event, which took place late last week, Vice Head of the Việt Nam Administration of Tourism Hà Văn Siêu said: “Technology has influenced the habits of travellers. Industry 4.0 is an opportunity to help Vietnamese tourism make breakthroughs, which can push Việt Nam to becoming one of the leading tourism destinations in Southeast Asia.”

Organised by The Guide magazine of the Vietnam Economic Times, the annual awards praise the achievements and contributions of enterprises, organisations, and individuals in Việt Nam to the country’s tourism sector.

The 110 nominees were announced in four categories, including Hotels & Serviced Apartments, Resorts, Restaurants & Services, Tours & Transportation.

‘The Top-notch Hotels of the Year’ was granted to Four Points by Sheraton Danang, JW Marriott Hanoi, Lotte Hotel Hanoi, The Reverie Saigon Hotel, and Lotte Legend Saigon.

The Guide Awards 2018 also featured a photo display presenting achievements in the tourism sector. — VNS
