The first TV series project about the traditional practice of Mother Goddesses worship will be presented in HCM City on June 22.

HCM CITY — The first TV series project about the traditional practice of Mother Goddesses worship will be presented in HCM City on June 22.

Entitled Mẹ Việt (Vietnamese Mothers), the 108-episode series is a joint venture of Nhật Nguyệt Cultural Limited Company and An Viên Television and aims to honour the traditional values and belief in goddess worship.

During the premiere, audience will have a chance to enjoy the first episode of the series alongside a performance of hầu đồng (ritual of the Mother Goddesses worship).

Experts will talk about the value of mother goddess worship in the spiritual and cultural life of the Vietnamese people and how it was recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2016.

According to Đàm Lan, director of the company, the series gives an insight into the worship of Mother Goddesses in Việt Nam, as well as the role of the four realms in the belief, stories about the deities being worshipped and measures to preserve and uphold the belief.

The programme will take place at Bến Thành Theatre, 6 Mạc Đĩnh Chi Street, HCM City — VNS
