During this time of year, the mountains and forests of northwest Việt Nam are adorned with the white blossoms of plum trees, creating a poetic and breathtaking landscape. Unlike the flamboyant colours of peach or bauhinia flowers, northwest plum blossoms embody a quiet, restrained and simple beauty.

Amidst the biting cold of winter, the slender tree branches burst into vibrant life. From tiny buds, individual white petals unfurl, covering the mountain slopes, weaving into the valleys, and reflecting softly in the streams.

They plant these trees around their homes, beside stone fences, and on high hillsides - not only for beautification but to express hopes for peace and well-being.
