KHÁNH HÒA — Khánh Hòa Province is making a concerted effort to position tourism as a spearhead industry that fuels sustainable double-digit economic growth.

Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Long Biên has recently signed a detailed plan to execute Resolution 01-NQ/TU (dated July 14, 2025), which focuses on developing tourism as a key pillar for the 2025–2030 period.

Under the plan, the province aims to welcome more than 31.6 million visitors by 2030, achieving an average annual growth rate of 15 per cent. Of that number, international arrivals are expected to reach 10.5 million, growing at an annual average of 14.2 per cent.

To accommodate this surge, the province plans to expand its accommodation capacity to 100,000 rooms, of which about 75 per cent will meet three- to five-star standards. The tourism sector is also expected to generate over 300,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The provincial People’s Committee has called for strict and comprehensive implementation of the resolution, with close coordination among sectors and localities. The plan must uphold the 'six specifics' principle, with clearly defined goals for people, tasks, timelines, responsibilities, products and authority, to ensure strong consensus across the political system, local communities and businesses.

Ultimately, the aim is to make tourism a true economic powerhouse, creating ripple effects across other key sectors, contributing to budget revenues and improving residents’ quality of life.

Diverse and sustainable tourism offerings

Khánh Hòa’s tourism development strategy emphasises modernity, quality and brand reputation. The province is diversifying its tourism products, with marine and island tourism at the core, while also promoting eco-tourism, community-based tourism (particularly in Khánh Sơn and Khánh Vĩnh districts), wellness and resort tourism, and cultural and spiritual heritage tourism.

Sustainability remains a guiding principle, ensuring environmental protection and cultural preservation. The province also aims to build signature brands from local specialties, including bird’s nests, agarwood, and high-tech OCOP agricultural products.

To optimise resources and define clear tourism identities, the province has outlined distinct development zones, with Nha Trang–Vĩnh Hy positioned as the centre for marine tourism and heritage exploration; Bắc Vân Phong being developed into an international-class coastal tourism city; and the Northern Cam Ranh Peninsula along with Ninh Chữ being planned as National Tourism Areas, forming a comprehensive and interconnected tourism ecosystem across the province.

On the market side, Khánh Hòa will focus on consolidating key and fast-growing visitor markets through targeted promotions and strengthened cooperation with provinces in the south-central coast, Central Highlands and other major regions to maximise shared potential.

With strong determination and a well-structured action plan to address market and product imbalances, Khánh Hòa is charting a bold course toward becoming one of Việt Nam’s top destinations, making a strong contribution to sustainable double-digit economic growth between 2025 and 2030. — VNS
