HÀ NỘI — The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Việt Nam will host Iran Film Week 2025 from April 11 to 14 at the National Cinema Centre.

This cultural event aims to promote Iranian cinema and foster greater understanding between the people of Iran and Việt Nam.

Iran’s cinematic landscape has long been renowned for its distinct minimalist style and emotionally-charged storytelling. With a rich history spanning over nine decades, Iranian cinema's journey began with the production of its first spoken film, and its first cinema was established in 1900, just five years after the Lumière brothers invented film.

As one of the world’s oldest and most revered cinematic traditions, Iranian films have made a significant impact at both domestic and international festivals, earning global recognition and accolades, including at the Oscars, Cannes and in Berlin.

In recent years, Iranian cinema has also gained prominence at the Hà Nội International Film Festival, winning prestigious awards and further solidifying its reputation as a powerhouse of cinematic excellence.

At Iran Film Week 2025, five acclaimed Iranian films will be screened at the National Cinema Centre, No 87 Láng Hạ Street.

The selected films explore themes of love, family, and personal struggle, offering audiences a unique glimpse into Iranian culture and society. They are: In the Arms of the Tree by director Babak Lotfi Khajehpasha, Fragrant by director Hadi Moghadamdoost, A Passenger from Ganora by director Ahmad Alamdar, Beyro by director Morteza Ali Abbasmirzaee and Goodbye Shirazi Girl by director Afshin Hashemi. Admission to see them is free.

"We are delighted to bring Iranian cinema to the heart of Hà Nội," said the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Việt Nam, Ali Akbar Nazari. "This film week celebrates our shared cultural values and highlights the enduring power of cinema to bridge cultures and nations."
